Destination Guide to Mumbai, India

This island city is the financial capital of India and has a coastline that is pretty appealing. The city is a throbbing metropolis which has bounced back from many unfortunate events like the floods that took over the city in the year 2005 and from the attack of the terrorists in Dec 2008. Its beaches offer tourists and locals the opportunity to enjoy the evening funfairs that often take place. Mumbai celebrates a number of events through the year starting with the Republic Day in January to many others that have religious themes. There are marathon running events, horse racing events and boat shows. Many music concerts are held at the much renowned NCPA which is located south of Mumbai near the Marine Drive promenade. The city celebrates a number of festivals practically every month due to the very secular nature of the city as there are Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs in good numbers settled in the city and each religion celebrates its festivals with great joy and fervor.
